Tina’s research aims to develop a molecular understanding of the formation of specialised bundle sheath cells in C4 plants, which underpin their remarkable photosynthetic efficiency.
Her work focuses on uncovering the mechanisms controlling intracellular polarity, including organelle positioning and plasmodesmata placement.
Using a combination of molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, and cell biology approaches, she and her group seek to identify gene targets to inform strategies for engineering C4 photosynthesis into C3 crops and improve agricultural productivity.
